If you fancy challenging yourself in open water, the HUUB Outlaw Swims are for you! Swim 2.5km or 5km in the Regatta Lake at the National Water Sports Centre.
The routes are easy to navigate with multi-lap courses where you can stop at the swim-up drinks stations if you wish to. They are suitable for swimmers of all levels from those looking to complete the distance as a personal challenge to those aiming to win their age group.
The swims start at the boat house end of the lake, swimming up to and in front of the Grandstand area where spectators can cheer you on. The finish will be in front of the grandstand area where you will exit the water and your time will be recorded electronically as you pass under the finishing gantry.
You can choose what swimwear you wear. Most opt for a wetsuit, but regular swimwear is fine too if you are comfortable wearing it in open water. We can’t predict the water or air temperature but keep an eye on the forecasts in advance – the water is usually around 22 degrees.
All swim strokes are allowed, but we ask that you avoid backstroke as this will alert our water safety team that you need assistance.
The minimum age to take part is 12 by 31.12.23 for the 2.5km and 13 for the 5km.
